The number of registered unemployed in Norway declined to a seasonally adjusted 61.4 thousand in June 2026, down from 62.0 thousand in May. This was the lowest level since April 2025 and corresponded to 2.0% of the labor force.

Unemployment was broadly stable across most occupational groups. The lowest jobless rates were observed among academic professionals and in health, nursing, and care occupations, both at 0.8%. By contrast, tourism and transportation continued to register the highest unemployment rate, at 2.7%.

Regionally, Troms recorded the lowest unemployment rate at 1.2%, while Oslo reported the highest share of fully unemployed, at 2.6% of its workforce.

Labor demand remained robust, with 44.6 thousand vacancies advertised in June—equivalent to around 1,900 openings per working day—unchanged from the same month a year earlier. On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, the number of fully unemployed edged down to 58.1 thousand in June from 58.3 thousand in May.
