17.08.202606:31:52UTC+00Tunisia Q2 GDP Annual Growth Weakest in 5 Quarters

Tunisia’s economy grew by 2.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, easing from a 2.6% expansion in the first quarter and marking the weakest pace since Q1 2025. Growth was driven mainly by the services sector, which expanded by 1.9%. Within services, transport activity moderated (1.7% vs. 2.2% in Q1), while information and communication posted a slightly faster rise (3.5% vs. 3.4%).

Manufacturing output increased by 0.9%, supported chiefly by strong gains in oil refining (19.2% vs. 572.9% in Q1) and in accommodation and food services (4.6% vs. 4.1%). By contrast, electricity and gas generation and distribution contracted (-0.5% vs. +5.8% previously), and the mining sector also declined (-9.6% vs. +3.5%), reversing growth seen in the prior quarter. The downturn in oil and natural gas extraction, however, became less pronounced (-1.1% vs. -6.7%).

On a quarter-on-quarter basis, Tunisia’s GDP rose by 1.4% in Q2 2026 after stagnating in the first quarter, registering the strongest quarterly increase in a year.
