Kazakhstan’s industrial production grew by 0.1% year-on-year in July 2026, a sharp slowdown from the 8.2% increase recorded in June and the weakest pace in six months. The deceleration was mainly driven by manufacturing, where growth eased to 4.2% from 13.7% in the previous month.

At the same time, output in mining and quarrying contracted by 7.1%, reversing a 1.8% rise in June. The downturn in this sector largely reflected lower crude oil production (index at 91.1% vs 91.6% previously) and reduced natural gas output (94.5% vs 95.9%).

By contrast, production in electricity, gas, steam, hot water, and air-conditioning accelerated, expanding by 22.7% compared with 16.9% in June. Meanwhile, the water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation sector returned to growth, with activity rising 7.8% after a 1.3% decline in the previous month.

Over the first seven months of 2026 (January–July), overall industrial production increased by 3.0% year-on-year.
