The S&P Global Italy Services PMI rose to 50.2 in June 2026, moving back into expansionary territory after May’s contractionary reading of 49.4, though it remained slightly below market expectations of 50.5. This was the first print above the 50.0 threshold since February, as business activity returned to growth, supported by new customer acquisitions, successful tender bids, and generally stronger demand.

Nevertheless, firms reported that conflict-related disruptions and the associated economic uncertainty continued to weigh on performance, acting as key constraints on growth. Employment across service providers was broadly stable in June; however, the current run of job creation stretched to seventeen consecutive months.

On the price front, input cost inflation eased for the first time since the start of the year, while the pace of increase in output charges also moderated. Finally, business expectations improved further, pushing confidence among Italian service providers to its highest level since November 2025.
