US stock market closes higher, Dow Jones gains 1.06%

At the close of the New York Stock Exchange, the Dow Jones was up 1.06%, the S&P 500 was up 1.68% and the NASDAQ Composite was up 2.14%.

In addition, quotes also rose on the correction factor in the banking sector after falling a day earlier, when investors estimated the collapse of three US banks. Thus, on March 10, California state regulators closed Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), one of the twenty largest US commercial banks. This was the largest bank failure in the US since the 2008 financial crisis. In addition, Signature Bank was closed in the US due to systemic risks and the crypto-focused bank Silvergate.

The leading performer among the Dow Jones index components today was Salesforce Inc, which gained 7.38 points or 4.20% to close at 182.89. Quotes of Intel Corporation rose by 1.06 points (3.93%), ending trading at 28.01. American Express Company rose 6.28 points or 3.98% to close at 163.91.

The least gainers were Amgen Inc, which shed 2.60 points or 1.12% to end the session at 230.58. Shares of Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc climbed 0.28 points (0.83%) to close at 33.29, while International Business Machines shed 0.93 points (0.74%) to close at 124.65.

Leading gainers among the components of the S&P 500 in today's trading were First Republic Bank, which rose 27.84% to 39.90, Charles Schwab Corp, which gained 9.19% to close at 56.68, and also shares of Meta Platforms Inc, which rose 7.25% to close the session at 194.02.

The least gainers were United Airlines Holdings Inc, which shed 5.37% to close at 46.21. Shares of Vornado Realty Trust lost 5.26% to end the session at 16.21. Quotes of Boston Properties Inc decreased in price by 4.32% to 53.43.

Leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were Ainos Inc, which rose 79.17% to hit 1.29, Sigilon Therapeutics Inc, which gained 64.84% to close at 1.16, and shares of MMTEC Inc, which rose 38.93% to end the session at 2.07.

The least gainers were shares of Toro Corp, which shed 39.02% to close at 2.41. Shares of Oportun Financial Corp lost 34.61% and ended the session at 2.74. Quotes of RAPT Therapeutics Inc decreased in price by 25.97% to 19.70.

On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that rose in price (2273) exceeded the number of those that closed in the red (780), while quotes of 74 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2347 companies rose in price, 1254 fell, and 181 remained at the level of the previous close.

The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, fell 10.52% to 23.73.

Gold futures for April delivery lost 0.43%, or 8.20, to hit $1.00 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI April futures fell 4.44%, or 3.32, to $71.48 a barrel. Futures for Brent crude for May delivery rose 0.04%, or 0.03, to $77.53 a barrel.

Meanwhile, in the Forex market, the EUR/USD pair remained unchanged 0.01% to 1.07, while USD/JPY fell 0.01% to hit 134.21.

Futures on the USD index rose 0.07% to 103.25.
